He Knows Our Hearts

Written by Karol Ladd

God is not surprised by our mistakes or shocked by our human nature. He understands our personality. He is not confused by our appearance, nor is He scratching His head wondering why we have certain differences or quirks. He knows how we were formed, and He understands all there is to know about us. He knows us better than we know ourselves. In Jeremiah 1:9 we read, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born, I set you apart.”

How wonderful to realize that God knows each of us! He knows our own deepest needs and He knows the deepest needs of our students as well. As prayer partners, when we intercede on behalf of our students, we can be reassured that God understands them at a much deeper level than we can ever know. He knows them through and through. We may not understand the challenges they face on any given day, but we can trust that the God who made them sees and cares about what they are going through.

In Romans 8:26-27, Paul gives us blessed encouragement when we pray. He writes, “We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.” God gives us the assurance that the One who knows every heart helps us to pray and promises to provide. We can look to Him to not only care for our hearts, but those of our Kids Hope USA students as well.

As you pray this week, be confident in knowing that it is God who knows the needs of Kids Hope USA students and mentors’ hearts. Ask Him to help you pray for their deepest, innermost needs and rest assured that He will provide and care for them through every season of their lives.
