March Prayer Partner Devotional

Imitators of Christ

By Francesca Munoz Newman, Student Wellness Counselor at Humble ISD

When we think of our children, our grandchildren, children at school or at the store, we may notice how they are like others. They may have a smile like their mother or have a twang in the way they say “y’all”. Children copy us, even when we don’t think so.

Students come to school for attention, love, food, education, safety and healing. Teachers, school staff and mentors can serve as their refuge. As a prayer partner, please pray for the people involved with your Kids Hope USA program and that the relationships between mentors and students grow and thrive.

Students are always watching their teachers and mentors. They listen, watch and learn from us. Students may wonder, How will they react to me when I tell them this? How will they treat me if I tell them I don’t like the book they brought?

Children are listening and watching those around them, peers and adults. Which is why children need positive examples in their lives.

Whether or not we have children watching us all day, we always want to be imitators of Christ.

Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.

1 Corinthians 11:1

The mentors you pray for do this in a tangible way as they interact with students to help them grow and experience God’s love. Students can then bring that love, acceptance and grace into their relationships at home with their family and at school with friends.

Dear Father God, thank you for the gifts you have given us. Thank you for our mentors and students. I pray that you continue to use mentors as vessels in our students’ lives as they lead as Christ-followers. I say yes to your guidance, glory, grace and mercy. Amen.
