Seeing Needs & Showing Up

As a Kids Hope USA Director, I have seen mentors dig in, see the students and staff, and want to be supportive. I also have seen people grow in their ability to get out of their own bubble and dive into the needs of our community. We did a Sunday School Hour recently where we were able to talk about how this mentoring program enables us to live out Matthew 25.

“When I was hungry, you gave me something to eat.” We are able to see food insecurity and provide food and avenues for people to attain food.

“I was a stranger and you invited me in.” We receive so many immigrant and refugee families, and we are able to welcome them and make them feel a valued part of our community.

“I needed clothes and you clothed me.” We are able to help with clothing and winter gear for families in need.

“I was sick and you took care of me. I was in prison and you came to see me.” We can meet families where they are in their daily walk, and they can meet us where we are in ours.

It’s a HUGE gift and blessing. The reciprocity of building community together is so exciting and Biblical!
