It’s hard to believe it’s already March and we’re quickly approaching the end of another school year! As we enter the home stretch, we invite you to finish well. Take some time this month to look through the end-of-year resources in this newsletter so you’ll have a solid plan in place come April.

When I first became a Kids Hope USA director six years ago, I immediately felt a strong desire to connect with other directors. While I received great support from my church family, I still sought to bond with those who shared my experience of being in the trenches, launching this new mentoring ministry.

January is a time of new beginnings—a new year, new semester, and new resolutions. For directors, it’s an opportunity to renew our volunteers’ energy and sense of purpose. To that end, we invite you to celebrate National Mentoring Month with us during the month of January. Check out our National Mentoring Month resources in the director portal for a variety of options for thanking, highlighting, and recruiting mentors, prayer partners, and other program volunteers.

During the Christmas season, we give thanks for the miracle of God with us. The glorious truth that the Creator of the universe took on flesh and blood to live with us, as one of us. It’s a wonder that never ceases to amaze—that God would do all of this just to be with us.

For the last couple of years, I’ve had the privilege of writing to you all during the month of November: a month filled with giving thanks for all that God has blessed us with and a season of reminding ourselves to practice gratitude each day. In 2021, I extended an invitation to each of you to join me in my family’s daily practice we like to call “Three Gratitudes.”

One of my favorite passages in the Bible comes from Jeremiah 29. The Jews are in exile in Babylon, no doubt desperate to know when God plans to send them back home to Jerusalem. But the word they get from God through the prophet Jeremiah is not the one they expect:

This summer, my family and I traveled through Yellowstone National Park and hiked at Grand Tetons National Park. It was a magnificent experience, and one that left me inspired by the majestic nature of God!

For many of us, August signals the final few weeks of summer vacation for students—a new school year is around the corner. I hope each of you has taken some time this summer to relax, try something new, live into a different rhythm, and allow God to refresh your mind, body, and spirit for another year of helping build life-changing relationships!
