This past month, our family took a trip to the beach for summer vacation. As we looked out at the waves crashing over and over again on the shore, I was reminded of the steady cycle of the director experience. The excitement of a new school year. The steady middle months when mentors dig deep with their student, building relationships while we provide support and encouragement. The wild end of the year when we celebrate all the good things God has done through our relationships. The quiet summer months where we can rest and renew. The way the cycle starts over again each year.

Happy Fourth of July from Kids Hope USA! I hope this newsletter finds you enjoying the preparations for a great Independence Day celebration. It’s a wonderful time to show our gratitude for living in a country where we’ve been free to worship and be part of a community of believers doing Kingdom work. Speaking of preparation, we’re at that time for planning and preparing for the school year ahead.

I am a born planner. I make to-do lists and find great satisfaction in checking off completed tasks. For you Enneagramers, I am a 1, the perfectionist. Maybe some of you can relate? I find these traits quite helpful not only in my career but also as a Kids Hope USA director and mom of three young children. The planning and organization bring calm to chaos.

We hope your Thanksgiving was a peaceful time of gratitude and reflection with family and friends. Isn’t it fitting for the Christmas celebrations to begin
after a time of thankfulness? As Christians, our deepest gratitude is reserved for the Savior – the One who came from Heaven to earth as Emmanuel – God with us – for the purpose of being Yeshua – our
